Mass Effect Downloadable Content Revealed!

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

I’d hit that…oh wait, I already did! ZING!

YES!!!

Today, Microsoft has announced that the first piece of DLC for Mass Effect will be released on March 10th, for 400 Points ($5). Titled “Bring Down the Sky”, Commander Shepard and crew visit a new uncharted planet, where a Batarian extremist group has hijacked an asteroid station and plans on crashing it into the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. “Bring Down the Sky” presents a new achievement worth 50 points, and supposedly will give us “90 minutes of heart-pounding action” (we’ll see how much of this is actual heart-pounding action and not exploring a desolate planet collecting minerals).

Having completed Mass Effect (it is my most favorite game) as myself, I am now currently playing through as my bitch of a commander, Charlene Shepard. Her and Ashley don’t get along (just as two attractive women on a ship wouldn’t!), but Kaiden sure digs her, and she might like Kaiden back, but wait, maybe she is mean to Ashley because she has a crush on her?! Who knows? Only time (and my perverted mind) will tell.

Here is the official press release from Microsoft btw:

“To date, over 1.6 million gamers have explored the engaging sci-fi universe of “Mass Effect.” Beginning on 10th March, fans everywhere will be able to expand the “Mass Effect” experience with the release of the first ever downloadable content for the award-winning saga.
The “Bring Down the Sky” downloadable content pack will be released to Xbox LIVE Marketplace on Monday, 10th March at 10am, and will be available for 400 MS points. This is the first in a series of planned downloadable content that further expands the “Mass Effect” universe and continues the adventures of Commander Shepard and his crew of the Normandy.
“Bring Down the Sky” includes a new uncharted world that introduces the notorious and feared alien race of the Batarians. A Batarian extremist group has hijacked a mobile asteroid station in the Asgard system, setting it on a collision course with the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. Only Commander Shepard can save the millions of innocent civilians before the asteroid completes its deadly descent.

“Bring Down the Sky” contains approximately 90 minutes of heart-pounding action and a new Achievement worth 50 Gamerscore points.

“Mass Effect” is exclusively available on Xbox 360.”

Gears of War “Hidden Fronts” Map Pack Free Sept. 3rd

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Remember some people were bitching about having to pay $10 for four maps when the Hidden Fronts Map Pack was released? And then they said they will just wait until September when it’ll be free? Well now they can join in on the action, because the Hidden Fronts Map Pack will be free to download as of September 3rd. With almost 500,000 downloads so far, Hidden Fronts has become the number one selling piece of premium content over the Xbox Live Marketplace. Four maps are included in the pack, and are described by Microsoft as follows:

Bullet Marsh
In this Kryll-infested swamp, an old generator still powers the area lights. A few stray bullets could easily knock out the generator, leaving combatants to fend for themselves against the Kryll.

Garden
This overgrown and crumbling conservatory still has a working fertilization and pesticide system. This system can pose a serious hazard to anyone who ventures into the greenhouse without first venting the air.

Process
Fight for control of this subterranean Imulsion processing plant, still active despite the cessation of the Pendulum wars.

Subway

Timgad ‘s Central Subway station used to serve as a central hub for commuters. Now the tunnels are crawling with Locust.”

TimeShift Demo up on Xbox Live Marketplace

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Well that was random wasn’t it?

A demo for TimeShift was released on the Xbox Live Marketplace recently today. The demo weighs in at 581.78 MB to be exact. Here is how the Marketplace describes the game:

“Dr. Aiden Krone has made a Time Jump across the space-time continuum – a reckless act with frightening consequences. Now, a disturbing alternate reality has evolved within the bleak and rain-soaked Alpha District. Armed with the experimental Beta Suit, you alone are able to slow, stop and reverse the flow of time. Only with this ability can you lead the uprising to victory and put an end to Krone’s madness”

Many are wondering how much (or even if) the game has improved from the widely-regarded lackluster demo that was previously released by OXM back in March 2006. While the main aspect of the game is altering time, either slowing it down, stopping, or reversing it, will it actually be fun the whole way through? Or it will be some gimmick that quickly grows old within a couple of hours? Now you can get an idea of it for yourself.

Lost Planet Multiplayer Map Pack #3 – Free!

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Once costing 400 Points, the third set of multiplayer maps for Lost Planet have just become free today. Weighing in at 232.50 MB, the pack includes Ice Drop, Ruins, and Lost Technology. The content is available for ALL Xbox Live regions.

Looks like those who are used to the oddness of Lost Technology will be spending even more time showing newbies around and having them exclaim “Ah dude, it looks just like something from Super Mario Bros.!”.
